Summary

My recommendation for the type of web site/top-level domain for my topic is .gov because it brought all the top-level domains up and within .com was gov. and .edu included .gov. I found .gov to include student government and when government sites were viewed they were blogs or weblogs. Government site blogs concerned me as they had a bias. I found student voice for education to be concerned with their rights within the plagiarism topic. The subject directories are my favorite. They have a quality I like. I am a student and have learned a wealth of information however I have much more to learn. I feel overwhelmed at the amount of study required to be a full time student. I run out of time. I appreciate the opportunity to become knowledgeable about how to research the internet and the world wide web and tomorrow will bring an even greater knowledge. Thanks.

This site had a bibliography however the site was more about education than plagiarism. There was reference to plagiarism and a site to go to. I didn't find this site as appropriate for my topic and not as supportive either.

Summary

Summary:

My search statement changed from "Plagiarism" to ("Educator") AND plagiarism and then I chose a topic plagiarism and college student and all the articles came up. I clicked on magazine then on newspaper then on scholarly journal and found a wealth of information and resources. I used ProQuest at Clark College Cannell Library. I am excited about this new information and appreciate the experience. Learning how to search for information does give an academic advantage.

Article from Newspaper

New York Times:

Title: Medical School Quizzed on Ghostwriting:
[Business/Financial Desk]

Duff Wilson, New York Times (late Edition (East Coast)). New York, N.Y.: Nov 18, 2009. pg.B2.

Annotation: I chose this article for the Ghostwriting concept. The term refers to outside writer not being named in the article for their study about the subject. I liked the new information in the article at first glance.

Research Article from Scholarly journal

Journal: Journal of Higher Education

Title: University Students' Perceptions of Plagiarism

Lori G. Power, The Journal of Higher Education, Columbus: Nov/Dec 2009 Vol. 80, lss 6; pg 643

Annotation: Three criteria: 1 Coverage Range 05/01/2003-Present: 2 link to content: Article Journal Academic Search Premier: 3 Under Scholarly research heading.

The article uses understanding of what plagiarism phenomenon is within the student's own understanding and experience. I chose this article because it looked understandable for a scholarly journal article. The article was easy to access.

Article from Popular Magazine

Article from Popular Magazine: Newsweek

Gillian Silverman. Newsweek. New York: July 15, 2002 Vol 140, lss 3; pg 121

It's a bird, it's a plan. it's Plagiarism buster: title

Annotation: I am impressed by the article that as easy as it is to steal from the web the educator can bust us. At Google.com plug in the writing and busted says the author. I enjoyed reading this article and it had a good title that drew me in. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time. Research is gold.
